Back Cover Blurbs

  • Not a summary
  • A marketing tool
  • Hook readers
  • Build anticipation (without spoilers)
  • Accurately represent genre, stakes, tone
  • Aim for 150-200 words

When I turn to the back cover of a book, I hope, hope there is a blurb. (Too many times it’s just “Five Stars!” or “By the acclaimed author of . . .” Ugh.) I want to know what the book is about! I want to connect with the characters and the action of the story.
A good back cover blurb makes me want to flip the book over, open the front cover, and get reading!

It can also be the hardest thing to write.

Whether you need a full draft of a blurb or just someone to help you refine what you have, I’d love to help. Most likely, this will involve some back and forth, bouncing ideas around to get it just right. But in the end, the goal is to walk away excited to share your book with readers.
